Travel agents and hotels have long been in the business of selling travellers accommodation, but recently there has been a surge in the number of travel agents offering the same deals as luxury hotels.
Altair, Prestige and AirAsia are among the latest companies to offer hotel rooms for as little as $30 a night, and there are currently about 100 such deals.
A few other notable travel agents, including AirBnB, Virgin America and Budgetair, have recently announced deals on their websites.
There are also some major airlines offering hotel rooms, with AirAsia offering a one-night stay at its Kuta Island Airport and AirTran offering an offer of up to $20,000 for a one night stay at a Sydney hotel.
AirAsia has also announced a $25,000 cash offer to travellers with a reservation, and the airline is also offering a cash bonus for booking a flight within a week.
Travel agents are usually looking for more than the bare essentials, but many hotels are also offering travel insurance, so travellers can get extra protection if something goes wrong.
In some cases, hotel rates are also being offered at the end of the night, meaning travellers can save money if they book on the day before.
